About this course
This is not a foundation course on the airworthiness review - it is the drill room. It assumes you already know that the ARS act lives in M.A.901 / ML.A.903 and is hosted by a Part-CAMO under CAMO.A.125, CAMO.A.310 and CAMO.A.315. What it trains is what an NAA inspector actually tests in a post-holder competence interview, an oversight visit or a post-finding interview: the verbal defence of independence under commercial pressure (CAMO.A.310(b)/(c)), the construction and justification of a proportionate, risk-based sampling plan under CAMO.A.200(a)(3) and CAMO.A.315(c), the handling of "dirty file" traps (LLP back-to-birth gaps under M.A.305(h) with LLP identification under M.A.503 / M.A.504, obsolete AD revisions under M.A.301, unmapped STCs, FAA-to-EASA deferred defects re-anchored to M.A.301(2) (rectification of defects), State-of-Design AD divergence on import under M.A.904(a)(2)), the disciplined Review Freeze when the physical aircraft contradicts the digital record under M.A.710(a) / ML.A.903(a) (review of records and aircraft), the Stop/Go decision matrix for ARC issuance vs a written recommendation to the competent authority under M.A.901(k) on which the CA issues the ARC on Form 15a, and the outgoing operator/CAMO forwarding of continuing-airworthiness records under M.A.903 on transfer of registration within the EU. A focused second thread covers the Part-145 interface every ARS must defend in interview: how the workpack signed at the 145 facility under 145.A.50 carries (or fails to carry) the airworthiness data the ARS will rely on, how component Form 1 release statements issued under 145.A.50(d) interact with back-to-birth records held under 145.A.55, and how the physical survey is conducted inside a 145 hangar without compromising independence. You finish with real cases drawn from current inspector practice (AW119 lookback dual scenario, AD revision roll, LLP traceability gap, unmapped FAA STC, FAA Part 91 deferral vs EASA MMEL, State-of-Design AD divergence) and a recorded oral-defence rehearsal you can place in your CAMO competence file.
Syllabus
Module 1: Regulatory assertiveness and independence under pressure
Drill the verbal defence of ARS independence (CAMO.A.310(b)/(c)) against commercial and accountable-manager pressure, and construct a proportionate, risk-based sampling plan that survives an inspector's challenge under CAMO.A.200(a)(3) and CAMO.A.315(c).
- Oral defence the independence and pressure test
- Defensive sampling under camo a 200 risk based
Module 2: Discrepancy reconciliation and the "dirty file"
Find layered record gaps that a digital tracking screen cannot resolve (LLP back-to-birth under M.A.305(h) with M.A.503 / M.A.504, obsolete AD revisions, AMOC vs bridge document) and execute a disciplined Review Freeze when the physical aircraft contradicts the digital log under M.A.710(a) / ML.A.903(a).
- Documentary defence llp gaps and obsolete ad revisions
- Physical survey confrontation and the review freeze
Module 3: The authority interface and decision records
Apply the Stop/Go decision matrix to ARC issuance vs a written recommendation to the competent authority under M.A.901(k) - on which the CA issues the ARC on Form 15a - and handle the outgoing operator/CAMO forwarding duty for continuing-airworthiness records under M.A.903 on cross-border transfers.
- Stop go decision matrix and finding control
- Cross border transfers and the naa to naa protocol
Module 4: Real cases - six inspector traps
Work six current inspector-practice cases end-to-end: AD revision roll, LLP traceability gap, unmapped FAA STC, FAA Part 91 deferral vs EASA MMEL, bi-weekly AD divergence, and the AW119 lookback-limit dual scenario.
- Trap ad revision roll and llp traceability gap
- Trap unmapped stc and faa deferral vs easa mel
- Trap state of design ad divergence and lookback limit
Module 5: Oral defence rehearsal and final exam
Sit a 30-item server-graded final exam covering independence under pressure, defensive sampling, discrepancy reconciliation, the Review Freeze, the Stop/Go matrix, cross-border transfers and the six inspector traps. 80% to pass, three attempts, 60-minute clock.
- Final exam advanced ars interview prep
