About this course
The Airworthiness Review is the most consequential single act in continuing airworthiness: a qualified ARS reads the entire continuing-airworthiness record, walks the aircraft, reconciles paper to metal, and either issues, recommends or refuses the Airworthiness Review Certificate. This course trains a nominated or candidate ARS to perform that act inside the Part-CAMO framework under Reg (EU) 1321/2014 as consolidated (pre-2026/100). The host-side anchors are CAMO.A.125 (organisation privileges including the ARC-issuance privilege at CAMO.A.125(c)), CAMO.A.200 (management system, including compliance monitoring), CAMO.A.220 (record-keeping), CAMO.A.305 (personnel requirements), CAMO.A.310 (airworthiness review staff qualification and nomination), and CAMO.A.315 (CAW management). The review subject lives in Part-M (M.A.901 - 905, M.A.301 continuing-airworthiness tasks, M.A.302 maintenance programme, M.A.305 aircraft continuing-airworthiness record system) for aircraft inside Part-M scope and Part-ML (ML.A.901 - 906, ML.A.302) for aircraft inside Part-ML scope. Authority-side touchpoints are anchored to CAMO.B.305 (oversight programme), CAMO.B.355 (changes, suspension and revocation of the organisation approval) and M.B.902 (authority airworthiness review). You finish with a complete ARS pack for one aircraft, a four-pillar qualification record, a Top-Five ARC-Review Hazards drill, and a competence check that goes into your CAMO training file.
Syllabus
Module 1: Role, authority and qualification of the ARS
What the Airworthiness Review Staff actually does under M.A.901 / ML.A.903 (the review subject) as hosted by Part-CAMO (CAMO.A.125 organisation privileges, CAMO.A.305 personnel and independence), with the qualification path and authority acceptance the authority expects on file.
- What the ars does and does not do
- Privileges recommendation vs issuance and arc types
- Qualification path acceptance and continued competence
Module 2: Pre-review preparation - reading the file before you walk to the aircraft
Reading the CAME, the contract, the fleet status and the AD/SB position before the review starts; building the ARC checklist anchored to M.A.901 (complex) / ML.A.903 (light); and writing a sample plan for documents, records and the physical survey - .
- Reading the file came contract fleet status
- The arc checklist anchored to camo a 901
- Sample plan documents records physical survey
- Pre review sample plan the arc evidence backbone
Module 3: The documentary review
Aircraft status documents (CofA, noise, registration, weight schedule), continuing-airworthiness records under M.A.305 / M.A.301 (AD/SB, life-limited parts, mods, repairs, deferred defects), and the maintenance programme and reliability data under M.A.302 / ML.A.302 - what the ARS must see and how to reconcile gaps.
- Aircraft status documents cofa noise registration
- Continuing airworthiness records ads sbs llps mods repairs
- Maintenance programme and reliability data
- Reconciling llp and ad gaps in documentary review
Module 4: The physical aircraft survey
Walking the aircraft per M.A.901 [Complex/M] / ML.A.903(b)-(c) [Light/ML], reconciling physical observations to records (placards, mods, repairs, missing parts), and recognising the damage, corrosion or unapproved alterations that mean the review must stop until rectified.
- Survey scope and conduct camo a 901 b
- Reconciling physical findings to records
- Damage corrosion and unapproved alterations when to stop
Module 5: Findings, ARC issuance and the authority interface
How the ARS handles findings discovered during the review - rectify, defer or refuse - when to issue the ARC versus submit a written recommendation to the competent authority, which Form 15 applies (15a authority-issued, 15b CAMO-issued, 15c Part-ML), and how the activity interfaces with the authority under CAMO.B.355 / M.B.902 for first-time issuance, transfers and suspensions. Closes with the Top-Five ARC-Review Hazards drill.
- Findings during the review rectify defer refuse
- Issuing or recommending the arc forms 15a 15b 15c
- Authority interface camo b 355 first issuance transfers suspensions
- Arc issuance vs recommendation the decision record
- Top five arc review hazards
Module 6: Practical, qualification record and competence check
Assemble a complete ARS pack for one aircraft (anchored checklist, sample plan, survey notes, ARC draft), build the four-pillar qualification record the CAMO must hold on file under CAMO.A.305, and pass the competence check that goes into your training file.
- Practical task build your ars pack
- Ars qualification record
- Competence check airworthiness review staff
