S&HF Continuation - Part-CAMO (24-month recurrent)

Mandatory 24-month Safety and Human Factors (S&HF) recurrent training for Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) staff under CAMO.A.305 (named 'Safety and Human Factors' since Executive Director (ED) Decision 2020/002/R). It covers error models, the Dirty Dozen for office decisions, fatigue, handover and just culture, in airworthiness-review and Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP) change scenarios for the Nominated Person Continuing Airworthiness (NPCA), airworthiness review staff (ARS) and continuing airworthiness office staff.

About this course

Continuing airworthiness staff are responsible for the most decision-intensive documents in a helicopter operation: the Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP), the airworthiness review, the deferred-defect log and the work-order release. CAMO.A.305 requires that the competence for these decisions stays current. The 24-month Safety and Human Factors continuation cycle (named so since ED Decision 2020/002/R) is how the inspector assesses this competence during surveillance. This course delivers the cycle. A Safety and Human Factors core module, common to all roles, repeats the human-performance science. A CAMO context module then covers decision bias in the airworthiness review, the handover between CAMO offices when an AMP changes, the CAMO.A.305 evidence pack that the inspector samples, and a 30-question server-graded final exam with an 80% pass mark. For the NPCA post-holder, Airworthiness Review Staff (ARS), CAMO planners and the compliance monitoring function in any EASA Part-CAMO helicopter organisation.

Syllabus

Module 1: Human Factors core (role-agnostic)

The human-performance science every maintenance, operations or training role refreshes every 24 months - error models, Dirty Dozen, fatigue, handover, just culture, debrief, self-audit.

Module 2: CAMO context, evidence and final check

The CAMO-specific overlay: airworthiness-review decision bias, handover between CAMO desks when the AMP changes, the CAMO.A.305 evidence pack and the 30-item graded final exam.

  • Airworthiness review decision bias
  • Amp change handover traps
  • Camo a 305 evidence pack
  • Final exam rehearsal
